My name is Majid Attisha, a native speaker of Arabic. I was educated in Iraq and finished high school at the American Jesuit school in Baghdad. I went to Italy after winning a scholarship, and I studied Italian at the “ Universita` per Stranieri” in Perugia for one year. Then I moved to Rome to study engineering. I graduated from Rome University / Politecnico di Ingegneria, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduation I carried out theoretical experimental research on agricultural machinery and equipment at the Department of Machines and Mechanical Technologies at the same university. All my studies were conducted in Italian. After twelve consecutive years, I left Italy and I worked in the engineering profession for 25 years, gaining great experience in dairy technical field.

In order to maintain my proficiency in Italian language, I joined the Iraqi Translators Association where I carried out translations from Italian into English and Arabic, and vice versa, in many fields of translation for more than 20 years. I worked part-time for many Italian companies in Baghdad.  I organized beginning Italian courses, at the St. Joseph Youth Center, in Baghdad. I, also was a teacher of Math in an Italian middle school in Baghdad for one scholastic year.

After my retirement, I dedicated my time to the Italian language.

Here, in the US, I am a full time teacher of Modern Standard Arabic, and also worked as a full time teacher of Italian language for over a year..
